class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The European Union is currently setting the course for the next Framework Programme for<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Research and Innovation (FP10), which will begin in 2028. We acknowledge the Commission\u2019s<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">efforts to simplify and streamline processes.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">However, we would like to take this opportunity to share our thoughts on some aspects we<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">consider to be particularly important.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 FP10 should stand for excellent science and technology, reliable funding programmes,<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and robust collaborative research.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 Funding programmes should be aligned efficiently to cover the entire innovation chain,<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">from basic and applied research to (market-oriented) technology development. This<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">alignment should include environmental, social and economic sustainability across the<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">entire innovation process to enhance competitiveness and strengthen prosperity and<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">strategic autonomy of Europe.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 A reliable and strong long-term funding framework and related tools, as well as<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">sufficient funding, are needed for the European Research Area to support scientific<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">research at universities and research and technology organisations, enabling them to<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">remain internationally competitive.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 One of the essential strengths of the European research landscape lies in Collaborative<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Research, which is represented in the second pillar of FP10, bringing together<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">universities, non-university institutions and industry, including SMEs, across national<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">borders. It is vital that in the future, funding is not limited to short-term economic gain.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2022 The FP10 programme should not be constrained by the envisaged European Competi-<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">tiveness Fund with respect to its objectives and governance, enabling synergies where<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">appropriate.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For CEAS:<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cornelia
