CEAS Aerospace Europe Conference in 2017: European Aerospace: Quo Vadis?
Where are we going? The theme of the CEAS flagship event, the CEAS Aerospace Europe Conference 2017, inspired well over 300 speakers and 435 registered attendees to address challenges aerospace is experiencing in the exceptional environment of the world second largest building: the prestigious Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest. The conference was organized by the Romanian Research and Development Institute for Gas Turbines COMOTI on behalf of the Aeronautical and Astronautical Association of Romania AAAR. The conference delegates from all continents represented 133 institutions (universities, research establishments, industrial stakeholders, non-governmental organizations and policy makers). Dedicated workshops took place about the Advisory Council for Aviation Research (ACARE) update of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), Future needs for Research Infrastructures, EREA ‘Future Sky’ project, ESA Space Technology and Advanced Research, EUROAVIA Future through education and E-CAero2 Innovation in aero eEngines. The 13thEuropean Workshop on Aircraft Design Education EWADE 2017 organized a full day event to discuss recent advances in aircraft design.
The conference exhibition attracted 51 exhibits and 108 posters were on display. Appealing social events framed the conference, highlights being the concert of the Engineers` Orchestra and the dinner for the conference participants at the Mogosoaia Palace near Bucharest. The conference concluded with 4 technical tour options for the delegates to COMOTI & INCAS, ROMAERO SA, MAGURELE research and development town and IAR Brasov.
